Pompano Beach, FL, Firefighters Free Trapped Man after Train Hits Car

The engine block and a tire were ejected and hit a building more than 100 feet away, Pompano Beach officials said.

Pompano Beach firefighters extricated a man from his vehicle after it was hit by a train Tuesday.

The impact was so powerful that parts of the vehicle, including the engine block and a tire, were ejected and struck a county building more than 100 feet away, WSVN reported.

The trapped driver of the overturned car was conscious during the extrication operation. He was transpored to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. 

No passengers on the train were hurt. 

The investigation is continuing.
