Blaze Engulfs Vacant House in Immokalee, FL

Responding Immokalee firefighters could see the smoke in the distance.

Immokalee Fire Control District firefighters saw the plume of dark smoke billowing in the distance as they responded Wednesday afternoon.

Crews were on the scene for several hours controlling the flames. One firefighter was treated for a heat-related issue. 

No one has lived in the house for about five years, the fire chief told Gulf Coast News. 

The fire is under investigation.
