Vegan Doolittle, MO, Firefighter's First Call - 40K-Pounds of Rib Eye Steaks

Probationary Doolittle Firefighter Jenna Ulrich aimed the nozzle at the flaming steaks and rig but they couldn't be salvaged.
Aug. 22, 2025

It was a unique experience for the firefighter training the nozzle on a blazing rig on I-44 earlier this week.

It was Doolittle Probationary Firefighter Jenna Ulrich's first fire.

But that wasn't all.  The department's only vegan firefighter was trying to exinguish the fully involved truck hauling 40,000 pounds of rib eye steaks, The Huffington Post reported.

Neither the steaks nor the rig could be saved.

Ulrich's father, also a firefighter, was along side her on her first job.

"Nothing says ‘welcome to the fire service’ like sending the probie to put out 40,000 pounds of flaming ribeye!" the district joked on Facebook, with several cow emogis.
