Bridge Weight Limits May Impact Response Times by Denver Firefighters
"I don't think any increase is acceptable."
That's what Denver Fire Chief Desmond Fulton had to say as firefighters prepare to detour around five city bridges due to safety limits.
"There's definitely the possibility that it can add time to that response," he told 9 News Now.
Officers in areas where bridges will impact routes have been out and about eyeing the roads crews will encounter. They're not depending on AI.
The department's CAD system cannot currently automatically account for bridge weight restrictions.
One bridge's weight limit restriction will impact responses from four stations.
