Torch Being Used to Melt Ice Ignites House in Milton, MA
A torch being used to melt an ice dam ignited a house fire in Milton.
The homeowner was on a ladder using the torch when it lit the front corner of the house and spread.
"The whole attic was fully involved," Milton Deputy Fire Chief John Earner told WCVB.
Due to the frigid weather, firefighters from several neighboring companies assisted with the operation.
Earner urged residents not to use torches in an attempt to melt ice or snow.
"Leave it to the professionals," he said.
