A days-long firefight continues in Green Bay after a blaze broke out in an industrial building Monday.

Firefighters were called to Green Bay Converting, a sprawling facility filled with rolls of paper, as the region was hit by a blizzard.

“The last fire I fought like this was a multi-day incident — comparable to the Leicht Warehouse fire in 1999,” interim Co-Fire Chief Eric Jeltema told WeAreGreenBay.com. “Our firefighters have faced a variety of challenges, and our community has been incredibly supportive throughout this past weekend.”

Firefighters have been working to douse areas that are still burning after much of the building's roof collapsed.

Lt. Shauna Walesh said firefighters are still using a defensive attack because of the structure's condition.

Officials believe firefighters will remain on scene until Friday to ensure all hot spots are out and then investigators will move in to determine the cause of the fire.

Two firefighters were injured Tuesday, but the injuries were not serious.

“We are grateful for the over 100 firefighters, first responders, safety personnel, and local agencies from surrounding counties who have worked through extremely difficult conditions to get control of the fire over the last few days,” Green Bay Converting CEO Jonathan Dyer told the television station.
