Two FL Firefighters Injured During Brush Fire

Two Jacksonville firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion after battling a brush fire that threatened a neighborhood of homes near San Pablo Road.

Two Florida firefighters were injured battling a brush fire Thursday.

Jacksonville crews responded at around 2:30 p.m. to a brush fire that was spreading toward a neighborhood near San Pablo Road, WJXT-TV reports. About 55 firefighters tackled the blaze, preventing it from reaching nearby homes.

Two firefighters suffered heat exhaustion during the blaze. They were taken to the hospital but later released.

By around 5 p.m., the brush fire had been 80 percent contained. Crews would continue monitoring the fire, and officials warned that lingering smoke could still be a problem into the weekend, WJXT added.
