CA Firefighters Injured after Battling Fast-Moving Brush Fire

Around 75 firefighters from the Palm Springs Fire Department, CAL FIRE and other agencies responded to the blaze, which burned around 20 acres about 2 miles from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.

Two California firefighters were injured battling a fast-moving brush fire Monday.

Around 75 firefighters from the Palm Springs Fire Department, CAL FIRE, the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service responded to the blaze, which started just after 11 a.m., KESQ-TV reports. It had grown to around 20 acres shortly after 2:30 p.m.

During the vegetation fire, one firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion, according to the Desert Sun. Another firefighter was airlifted to the hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

Aircraft dropped flame retardant on the blaze, which was about 2 miles from the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Crews had around 70 percent of the fire contained by 4 p.m., KESQ added.
