Improperly Extinguished Campfire Sparked Davis Fire in Reno, NV

No charges will be sought for the person responsible for the fire last fall in Davis Creek Regional Park.

The Davis fire last fall has been ruled accidental.

More than a dozen homes and other buildings were destroyed in the fire that started in the Davis Creek Regional Park near Reno, 2 News reported.

Investigators from a number of agencies determined a campfire was not extinguished properly, and sparked the wildfire.

No criminal charged are being pursued.

"The Davis Creek Park is in unincorporated Washoe County; it is within Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District jurisdiction. We worked extremely closely with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office as well as the Nevada State Fire Marshal Office and Bureau of Land Management… extraordinary amount of effort and time went into this investigation," Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue Communications Director Adam Mayberry said.
