The Rock City Fire Protection District, Stephenson County, Illinois responded to a fully involved barn fire at 12:58 am Saturday, April 30, 2005.
While in route to the scene, a Mabas Box 3, 2nd alarm was dispatched, bringing a full response from Dakota and Davis Fire departments.
After arrival on scene, Chief Delbert Fiene noted that several serious exposure problems, thus increasing it to a 3rd alarm. Tankers were brought in from Cedarville and Freeport Rural Fire Departments.
The heat from the barn was so intense, the home 75 feet away, suffered serious exterior damage and an out building 150 feet away, also had some minor damage.
Fire crews remained on scene until 10:30 am cleaning up hot spots.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
