Fatal 2- Alarm House Fire in New Jersey

Shortly after 10am, on April 25, 2005, Camden, New Jersey Firefighters were dispatched to 554 Division St.

First Engine Co. 8 reported they had the end of the Row 2 story dwelling with heavy smoke showing.

Battalion Chief 1 (Matyjasik) reported he was using "all hands" and requested a 2nd alarm.

Rescue Co. 1 made entry to the 2nd floor and found one female in the rear room. She was taken out the 2nd floor rear window and was reported dead-on-arrival.

Deputy Chief Tom Quinn (Car-2B) was now on location and reported he was using five, 1 3/4 water lines.

Truck companies were opening up and making good progress.

The fire was placed under control in 30 minutes.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the Camden City Fire Marshals Office.

Note: At the same time as this fire, companies were dispatched to Haddon Ave. and Atlantic Ave. in the South Camden section of the city where there was another "all hands" fire in a 2- story home. That blaze was placed under control in 20 minutes by Car 3.
