Ore. Hazmat Team Responds to Fertilizer Spill

  TVF&R's Hazardous Materials Team helped to evaluate and coordinate the cleanup of a fertilizer spill at I-5 and Sagert Street in Tualatin on Oct 31.The spill occurred when a truck hauling 1000 gallons of liquid fertilizer rear ended another vehicle. The fertilizer tank dislodged from its mount and leaked approximately 800 gallons of fertilizer onto the highway. No one was injured. TVF&R worked with ODOT, Oregon State Police, the Oregon DEQ and the company that owns the truck to coordinate the cleanup.

Two lanes of traffic were blocked on northbound I-5 just north of the I-205 on-ramp and traffic on I-205 was backed up to West Linn. Traffic on I-5 north was slow to Wilsonville.
