Baldwin County dispatch paged out the Lillian VFD for a fully involved structure fire located in Spanish Cove - Lillian, AL shortly after 9 a.m. on July 10.

Arriving units found the two-story structure fully involved and mounted a frontal attack on the fire as well as protective cover on adjoining residences.

Mutual aid apparatus arrived from Escambia County, FL - Perdido Beach, AL, Elberta AL and Josephine, AL.

The residence was a total loss, and an investigation continues into the cause of the fire.

The homeowners stated they were in the kitchen getting ready for breakfast when the smoke detector/alarm sounded.

Looking down a hallway, they noticed heavy black smoke coming into the home from under the door to the garage.

All occupants were able to escape safely and uninjured; two from a second story using a ladder that a neighbor placed at a window, prior to fire department arrival.

Three firefighters were treated for heat exhaustion, with one being transported to a local hospital where he was treated and released later that afternoon.
