On August 1, 2006, Salisbury Station 16 was alerted to a personal injury accident at the U.S. Route 50 bypass, involving a dump truck and a passenger vehicle.
Paramedic 16 arrived and reported the passenger vehicle was down an embankment and the driver was severely trapped albeit deceased.
Assistant Chief 1 (Bryan Records), R.16 and Engine 161 arrived and began to contain the fuel spilling from the dump truck's saddle tanks.
Command requested Salisbury's HazMat 2, and Emergency Management.
The Maryland State Highway was also called to the scene to reroute traffic and provide sand for an absorbent. Due to the high heat advisory throughout the northeast, Command also requested Station 74 (Delmar) and Station 5 (Hebron) to provide their water fans to cool the crews working in the 100 degree heat.
