An arson fire in Corydon Township, McKean County, Pennsylvania, on May 22nd, destroyed a one-story, cabin-style home.
The Corydon Township, Bradford Township and Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Departments were dispatched on the first alarm assignment. First arriving firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the front and the rear of the structure fully involved with fire venting through the roof.
Due to the remote location, additional tankers were requested from the Lewis Run, Ludlow, Glade, Clarendon and Pleasant Volunteer Fire Departments.
Firefighters used three, one and three quarter inch lines to fight the fire. Most mutual aid departments were released by noon, but Corydon Township remained on the scene until 5:30 pm.
The metal roof which was placed over the original roof hampered overhaul operations.
One volunteer firefighter was transported to Bradford Regional Medical Center by the Bradford City Fire Department ambulance for treatment of smoke inhalation.
An investigation by a Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal determined the cause of the fire.
Damage was estimated at $100,000.
