On Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at 7:19 am, the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department and Vehicle Rescue Team were dispatched to Gold Place and Leo Lambert in St. Amant for a three vehicle accident with heavy entrapment.
St. Amant responded along with the Ascension Parish Vehicle Rescue Team, 7th. Dist. Volunteer Fire Department, Sorrento Volunteer Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance ground and air units.
On arrival, St. Amant command confirmed entrapment on four patients in two different vehicles.
With Rescue Squads stabilizing the two vehicles, extrication began on both vehicles.
Due to injuries from the MVA, Acadian Ambulance Air Med was called for transport to a Baton Rouge Hospital.
Rescue Squads stabilized all vehicles involved with support struts, and several dash roll had to be done to free the patients from both vehicles. Four patients were transported to local hospitals and four medical refusals were signed on scene.
The extrication took 20 minutes to complete.
The patients appear to have lacerations and possible compound fractures of legs and arms and possible internal injuries.
The accident is currently being worked by the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office and the Louisiana State Police.
