Bartlett Fire Department dispatched Companies around 8:15 pm, Tuesday night to the large commercial facility that houses Dixie Floor Covering at 2955 Kate Bond Road north of Highway 64.
Bartlett Firefighters arrived on the scene shortly after and found heavy smoke showing from the business. Mutual Aid from Shelby County Fire Department was requested to assist in firefighting efforts.
Severe weather forced firefighters to cease all firefighting operations and seek shelter in a neighboring facility as lightning strikes a Bartlett Ladder Truck while a Tornado Warning for Shelby Company was in effect for reports of a funnel cloud in the area.
Firefighters resumed firefighting operations once the weather permitted as mutual aid from Memphis Fire Department was requested.
All firefighting operations were once again ceased, forcing firefighters to seek shelter again for more severe weather than rolled through the immediate area.
Firefighters battled the blaze and was able to bring it under control around 10:30 pm.
Bartlett and Shelby County Firefighters remained on the scene throughout the night and early morning wetting down hotspots from the fire.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time and is under investigations.
There were no injuries reported.
