Sunday, April 16, 2006 -- Chattanooga firefighters and police officers probably got a sick feeling in their stomachs when they pulled up on the scene of this accident on N. Moore Road around midnight.
On arrival, they found a PT Cruiser had flipped on its side and slammed, roof-first into a utility pole and a red SUV was up against the Cruiser.
There were at least two passengers entrapped in the Cruiser, so firefighters had to begin extrication.
In just five minutes, the victims were cut free and on were on their way to Erlanger's emergency room in a Hamilton County EMS ambulance.
A check at the hospital revealed the two who had been entrapped were hurt but not critically and certainly expected to survive. The occupants of the SUV were already out of their car and walking when emergency people arrived.
All involved in the crash appeared to be young adults.
Police officers marked the posit on of the wreck cars with orange paint on the pavement and went to work on their investigation.
They will determine if speed drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in causing the crash with charges pending.
