On Saturday March 19, 2006, Pennsauken Fire Department was dispatched to a reported building fire at Merchantville Avenue and Westfield Avenue.

EMS supervisor Tom Madden was first due and reported to the fire department of a 1- story 15x45 commercial vacant building with heavy fire to the rear of the building.

First engine 1142 operated with 2 1 3/4 handlines and Engine 1121 was backup with Ladder 1124 performing ventilation and RIT 1135 as the special call.

One firefighter was transported for a minor leg injury.

Fire investigators are on scene establishing a cause of the fire.
