On February 1, 2004, a vacant home in Northampton, Massachusetts's Florence section was heavily damaged in an early morning fire of undetermined origin.
Firefighters from Northampton, Holyoke, Williamsburg, Hatfield, Amherst and Hadley all responded in mutual aid shortly before 3:30 AM, Sunday.
What appeared to be a small fire had actually burned through the floor near the front door, and then quickly spread through the 2-1/2 story colonial. Teams quickly moved to defensive maneuvers to protect surrounding exposures.
No injuries were reported.
