At 11 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2004, the Mount Morris FPD responded to a report of smoke and possible fire at a local grade school.

At 11 AM on Thursday, February 12, 2004, the Mount Morris FPD responded to a report of smoke and possible fire at a local grade school.

Initial arriving units reported smoke and fire showing.

Command initiated a third alarm response assignment and then upgraded the response to a fourth alarm. A second inter-divisional fourth alarm was request for water supply and tankers.

An estimated 30 fire departments from throughout northern Illinois responded to the incident.

Command placed two aerial master streams and numerous handlines in place to control the fire.

All children and faculty were reported to be evacuated and unharmed at the time of this report.
