Orlando, Florida Fire Department Responds to Crane Overturned at a Construction Site
At approx 1700 hrs on January 29, 2004 the City of Orlando Fire Department was dispatched for a construction crane that had overturned. Upon arrival fire crews along with Orlando's hazmat and heavy rescue companies surveyed the area and found that despite the damage to the crane and minor damage to an adjacent house, there were no injuries.
Orlando's Hazmat company checked for any possible leaks coming from the crane itself, while the Heavy Rescue company checked the stability of the crane as well as the damage to the house.
The crane which was constructing a new downtown condominium had been moving concrete when it tipped over. OSHA was notified and the construction company said it would take several hours to possibly days to remove the crane.
