Clear Spring, MD- Clear Spring firefighters responded out for a structure fire on Dam 5 Road. Washington County dispatch took a call for a structure fire beside 11409 Dam 5 Road.
Crews were dispatched out on the call around 8:06 pm. Company 4 units were the first arriving units shortly after dispatch to find heavy smoke coming from the residence.
Clear Spring crews reported a "Working Fire" after a quick assessment of the scene upon their arrival.
Washington County Dispatch immediately started the "Working Fire" assignment to the scene.
Chief Mundey of Clear Spring Fire Co.4 had Dam 5 Command upon his arrival.
Crews met a heavy fire load as they began their attack on the blaze.
Firefighters from over a half dozen Fire / Rescue companies responded to the incident to assist. Crews were battling the blaze for just under a half hour when it was discovered that a bulk of the fire was in the basement of the structure.
Firefighters were able to get a bulk of the fire knocked down by this time. Firefighters were on scene for an extended period conducting an extensive overhaul and extinguishing hot spots.
Command reported the fire out to dispatch around 23:55 hours once over haul was complete.
The fire displaced the family at 11419 Dam 5 Road.
Red Cross representatives were called to the scene to assist the family with temporary placement.
No injuries were reported during the incident.
The State Fire Marshal's office is investigating the blaze.
