On the afternoon of Thursday, January 22, 2004, Mechanicstown Firefighters were alerted for a serious MVA on Crystal Run Rd in front of the New York State Police Troop F Headquarters. The New York State Police arrived almost immediately and requested all units to expedite.
Command arrived and reported a 2 car MVA with fire and entrapment. ALS from Mobile Life Support Services requested a Medevac launch with landing zone at the barracks. They reported 1 DOA in the car and 1 critical patient.
Assisting Mechanicstown and Mobile Life on scene were units from Town of Wallkill VAC and Silver Lake Fire Department who assisted with traffic and setup landing zone.
