On the morning of January 08 2004, following a sudden snow squall, Interstate 81 in South Abington Twp. Pa. was backed up due to a rollover at mile marker 197 North bound.

Traffic going Southbound started to back up, two tractor trailers and three cars collided at mile marker 193; causing one of the most horrific accidents in our department's history.
Miraculously the driver of the SUV escaped only with minor ankle injuries. Responding units were Chinchilla Hose Co. of South Abington Twp., Clarks Summit Fire Co. Community Life Support Systems, South Abington Police Dept., and Pennsylvania State Police.
