The Ridgewood Fire Department (in Bergen County, New Jersey) responded to a reported structure fire at 33 North Pleasant Avenue at 9:21 pm, on Saturday, January 28, 2006.
The first arriving Police car reported a fully involved structure fire. Captain Biswurm responded with a first alarm assignment of 11 on duty firefighters.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a fast moving fire on the first floor of the home, which had broken through the windows in the front and rear of the home with fire extending to the second floor and roof on the outside of the structure.
A General Alarm (recall of all volunteer and career firefighters) was transmitted at 9:27 pm.
A Mutual Aid request was transmitted at 9:32 pm and the Ho Ho Kus Fire Department responded to the scene with one Engine Company. The Glen Rock Fire Department provided an Engine Company for standby at our Fire Headquarters.
At 9:45 pm a request was made for a Wyckoff Engine Company to provide an Engine at the scene for additional manpower.
The occupants were not at home at the time of the fire. The structure sustained severe fire damage and smoke damage. The Fire was declared under control at 11:10 pm.
A total of 27 Career Firefighters and 4 Volunteer firefighters from the Ridgewood Fire Department responded to the call. The Ho Ho Kus Fire Department responded with 7 Volunteer Firefighters, The Wyckoff Fire Department responded with 8 Volunteer Firefighters and the Glen Rock responded with 6 Volunteer Firefighters.
No injuries were reported as a result of this fire.
