Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department (VFD) originally recieved a call of a commercial structure fire.
One of the first to arrive on the scene was a battalion chief who observed fire and smoke from the rear of the building. He realized that the structure was actually inside the city limits of Chattanooga and requested a full response from the city.
Tri-Community VFD continued to fight the fire with four engine companies, two ladder trucks, two pumper trucks, two service trucks and an air truck.
Chattanooga Fire Department responded with eight pieces of apparatus. Both fire departments worked together to contain the fire using aerial apparatus and hoselines.
There were no reported injuries and no one was believed to have been in the business when the fire broke out.
Chattanooga Police Department, Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue and Hamilton County EMS assisted. The blaze was considered under control at 1:51 PM, approximately two hours after the intial response.
There was also a trailer at the rear of the structure that served as a private residence that was destroyed.
The total loss is estimated at approximately $1,000,000.00.
