A two alarm fire destroyed the Country Pub & Grille located on Mays Landing Road in the Township of Hamilton, Atlantic County, January 7, 2004.
The volunteer fire companies of Mays Landing, Cologne, and Laureldale were dispatched at 00:10 on Janaury 7 for a report of a structure fire at the Country Pub & Grille.
Flames were showing upon arrival prompting a special call for additional manpower. Firefighters pushed their way in through the front but heavy fire conditions in the attic area forced them out.
The building was a 50 x 30 L shaped of ordinary construction one story in height. Firefighters battled smoke and flames along with freezing temperatures for 90 minutes before bringing the fire under control.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
