At 12:52 pm, the Spencer Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in a three- story wood framed single family home.
When the first members of the fire department arrived, fire was blowing out the windows on the D side overlapping the roof and quickly went to the third floor.
The fire chief ordered a second alarm and then a third alarm.
The fire consumed the majority of the second and third floors before being brought under control.
The fire was fought by 60 firefighters from Spencer, Leicester, East Brookfield, Brookfield, Paxton and Holden supplied RIT, and North Brookfield filled air bottles.
Rehab was supplied by Spencer Emergency Management and Spencer Rescue Squad.
The home owner and his son were home at the time of the fire. They were able to evacuate the house with there pets without injury and there were no firefighter injuries reported.
The fire started in the second floor computer room but is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshall, Spencer Fire and Spencer Police Department.
The house sustained approximately $200,000 in damage.
