At 5pm, on Sunday, January 8th, the Littleton Fire Communications Center alerted units to a reported structure fire at 6730 S Glecoe Street, in Centennial.
First arriving Engine 14 reported heavy smoke conditions and fire showing from the second & third floors of an occupied apartment building.
A second alarm was struck within minutes bringing more aid from South Metro as well as more Littleton units.
High winds from an approaching cold front began to push the flames through the attic. Within 10 minutes a third alarm was struck and a major street had to be closed due to smoke conditions.
Numerous hand lines and one aerial master stream were used for nearly an hour to gain control of the flames.
The fire was contained to 8 apartment units in the center of the building.
Several residents were treated on scene for smoke exposure.
The American Red Cross is assisting all of the effected occupants.
No official cause has been determined at this time.
A total of 9 engines, 4 aerials, 4 Fire Medic units, 1 Air unit, 1 Rescue Company & numerous chief officers responded to the call.
