Dwelling Fire in Camden City, New Jersey

The morning of December 27, 2005 at approximately 7:40 am, Camden City Firefighters were dispatched to the area of 30th and Howell Street for a reported dwelling fire.

The morning of December 27, 2005 at approximately 7:40 am, Camden City Firefighters were dispatched to the area of 30th and Howell Street for a reported dwelling fire.

Engine's 9 (Buckingham), 11 (Gorski), Tower Ladder's 3 (Magee) and 1 (Bain) along with Rescue 1 (Leary) and Battalion 2 (Depascale) were dispatched and arrived to find a 2 story SFD with heavy smoke showing from the 2nd floor with a corrected address of 2930 Howell Street.

Battalion 2 also reported heavy fire from the first floor and were operating with 1 1 3/4 handline. Battalion 2 requested Squad 7 (Harper) and Battalion 1 (Matyjasik) on the all hands. Twenty minutes into the fire, Battalion 2 reported all companies to withdraw from the dwelling and went to an exterior attack with Tower Ladder 3 and several large lines from Engine Company 9.

No reported injuries were noted at the scene, and the dwelling was vacant, Camden City Marshals are investigating the cause, and the fire was placed under control within 50 minutes by Battalion 2.
