On 10/18/03 the Cibolo Vol. fire department responded to this fully involved structure and extinguished it. Temperatures and humidity were high, adding to the workload.
The structure was unoccupied at the time, but contained a huge collection of vinyl records, 8-track tapes, and cassette tapes creating a huge fire load. Smoke was seen from over 20 miles away.
Two hydrants were out of service in this rural area forcing a 1/2 mile water relay with 3 pumpers. The cause is still under investigation. Cibolo was assisted by Schertz, Marion, and Bracken Fire departments.
