On September 15, 2003, at approximately 1:30 PM, Union Colony Fire/Rescue in Greeley, Colorado was dispatched to a plane crash at the Greeley/Weld County airport.
A single engine Waco "experimental" aircraft with only the pilot on board experienced brake problems and veered off the runway. While attempting to return to the runway, one of wheels' brakes locked up, causing the aircraft to spin in circles. At which time the pilot lost control and the aircraft's nose, plunged into the ground.
The pilot exited the aircraft with minor injuries and a very minor fuel leak was stopped after the aircraft's tail was returned to it's normal position.
