Fast-Moving 4- Alarm Fire in Pennsauken, New Jersey

A Fast moving 4 alarm fire destroyed a former appliance center. Part of the building was vacant and the other was occupied by a Woodworking business, and an Auto Parts Repair Shop.

October 7, 2005 -- A fast-moving 4- alarm fire destroyed a former appliance center. Part of the building was vacant and the other was occupied by a Woodworking business, and an Auto Parts Repair Shop.

The fire was located on Haddonfield Road and Rt. 130 in Pennsauken Township (Camden County NJ).

The first arriving units found heavy smoke showing from the large 80x100 one story Commercial Building. An "all hands" assignment was struck, followed by a 2nd alarm.

The 3rd alarm was struck bringing companies from Cherry Hill Township, and Burlington County, followed by a 4th alarm, bringing a tower ladder from the Camden City Fire Department.

The fire was now breaking through the roof and front and side of the building.

Three ladder pipes were in operation plus numerous hand lines and deluge guns were operating.

The firefighters were able to contain the fire to one side of the building and the rest of the building suffered heavy smoke and water damage. The fire was placed Under Control within an hour.

A few firefighters were treated by local EMS Units, non required hospitalization.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by local and county officials.
