California Firefighters Battle Brush Fire

At About 3:52 pm on August 27th, Poway and San Diego City Fire Departments responded to a report of a brush fire in the area of 11540 Creek Rd on the border of both districts.

At About 3:52 pm on August 27th, Poway and San Diego City Fire Departments responded to a report of a brush fire in the area of 11540 Creek Rd on the border of both districts.

The fire burned 55 acres and posed a substantial structure threat, according to Division Chief Bruce Cartelli (SDFD.) All together ground units from San Diego, Poway, CDF, and Air Resources County Copter 1 with CDF fixed and helicopters had the fire contained at 98 percent by 6:30pm.

No structures were lost and there were no injuries. According to SDFD the fire in still being investigated but a downed power line is believed to be the origin of the fire.
