Firefighters Respond to Fatal Accident in Wilmington, Delaware

On Wednesday 4 June 2003 at 1335 hours the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company was dispatched to Washington Street Ext. at Rockwood Road for a motor vehicle crash with subject trapped at 1335 hours.

Wilmington, Delaware -- On Wednesday 4 June 2003 at 1335 hours the Brandywine Hundred Fire Company was dispatched to Washington Street Ext. at Rockwood Road for a motor vehicle crash with subject trapped at 1335 hours.

Upon his arrival, Brandywine Hundred Fire Chief Mike DiMauro called for Fire Police and second Rescue because of the heavy entrapment.

It took firefighters approximately 40 minutes to remove the subject from the car. New Castle Paramedics pronounced the lone occupant of the car dead at the scene.

Chief Mike DiMauro, Jr. placed the accident scene under control at 14:15 hours.

The cause of accident is under investigation by the Delaware State Police.
