Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services received a call shortly after 6pm last night to a structure fire at 1268 Old Dawsonville Road in Ball Ground, next to Calusa Lake subdivision.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, they found the two-story home fully involved with heavy smoke and flames coming through the roof and from the backside of the house. The residents, who were home at the time of the fire, escaped without injury. The home received extensive fire, smoke and water damage.
No other injuries were reported and a Cherokee County Fire Investigator is currently investigating a cause of the fire.
