For the second time in 3 weeks the Dublin United Methodist Church was on fire. The following pictures are of the fire at the church on April 28, 2003. The Dublin Volunteer Fire Department, Dublin, VA., was dispatched to the Dublin United Methodist Church for the second time in 3 weeks for a structure fire at about 16:15 hours.
The first fire, on April 7 2003, was contained to the foyer of the old and the balcony above. Upon arrival of the first units on April 28th, the roof of the structure was well involved. The entire structure of the old sanctuary and adjoining classrooms were destroyed. The fire was contained to the oldest part of the structure.
The Dublin Volunteer Fire Department received mutual aid from Newbern, Draper, Fairlawn and Twin Community Volunteers Fire Departments, Town of Pulaski and Radford City Fire Departments. REMSI (Regional Emergency Medical Services, Inc.), Town of Dublin Police, Pulaski County Sheriffs Department and the Virginia State Police also provided assistance at the scene.
The fire is still under investigation by the Town of Dublin Police Department, Pulaski County Sheriffs Department and the ATF.
