Boonsboro, Maryland Crews in Washington County Battle Converted Barn Fire

Boonsboro Crews along with multiple mutual aid companies responded out June 5th, just before 9am, for a structure fire in the area of Toms Road.

Boonsboro, MD- Boonsboro Crews along with multiple mutual aid companies responded out June 5th, just before 9am, for a structure fire in the area of Toms Road.

County dispatch took the call but was unable to get an exact location from the caller.

Crews from Boonsboro, Funkstown, Mount Aetna, Fairplay, and Smithsburg were dispatched out at 8:49 am.

After dispatch, follow up 9-1-1 calls reporting the blaze advised it to be a barn well off.

The EMS crew on 69-1 arrived on the scene at 19933 Lemuel Lane off of Toms Road shortly after the report from dispatch to confirm the follow up call. They reported the barn well off to dispatch and placed command into effect.

Assistant Chief brown of Company 6 arrived and took charge of operations.

Firefighters battling the blaze, quickly went into defensive mode due to the magnitude of the fire.

Ladder pipe operations were placed into effect once defensive mode was established.

Command immediately requested additional tankers to the scene to assist with water supply.

Crews took just over an hour to get control of the blaze. Command reported the fire knocked down at 10:04 hours.

Once fire was knocked, several tankers were able to be released while crews conducted their over haul operations.

Fire was finally declared out at 12:05 pm, command released most of the fire apparatus on the scene.

Boonsboro Crews remained on the scene to assist the Fire Marshals Office where needed as they began their investigation into the incident.

Remaining crews later cleared at 1:47 pm that day.
