Monday, May 16,2005 - 8:15 pm - City of Chattanooga Fire Department received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a house fire at 3000 12th Avenue.

When Chattanooga Engine 9 arrived on the scene they reported flames coming from the roof of the house.

Firefighters with Engine 9 immediately started attacking the blaze with an inch and three quarter hose line, while a second incoming engine company laid a supply line from a fire hydrant. Several firefighters also started an interior search to assure that all the occupants made it out of the house.

Within minutes the house was heavily involved with flames. Several additional engine companies arrived on the scene and started assisting with fire fighting efforts. Additional resources were also called to the scene to assist with refilling air bottles and rehab efforts.

Three people were said to be home at the time of the fire, and did not know the house was on fire. Fortunately a observant neighbor spotted the smoke and quickly ran to the front door and warned the three people.

The fire was finally brought under control after about an hour, but not before causing extensive damage to the house.

Luckily there were no reported injuries from the fire and a cause is still under investigation by fire investigators.
