On March 21, 2003, California firefighters responded to a 4-alarm fire at the Acton, Southern California Edison Plant.

Los Angeles County Fire Station 80 was the first in. A transformer exploded and caused two other transformers to explode.

Each transformer contains 25,000 gallons of oil. Foam units form the Air Force from Plant 42 and Edwards Air Force base along with Los Angeles foam units were called in on mutual aid.
