Units from the Eureka Fire Department along with an auto aid assignment from Humboldt Fire Protection District #1 responded to an early morning blaze at the Humboldt County soil testing laboratory in historic Old Town Eureka. First arriving units found the county maintenance garage and public works street division well involved with fire. The first arriving officer requested a full recall of both agencies and requested reserve units be staffed and respond to the scene. The incident was declared a defensive operation.
