During the early morning hours of August 31,  Racine Engines 1 & 6, Truck 1, Rescue 1 and Command Unit 41 were dispatched to a  house fire at 1920 Slauson Avenue.

Engine 6's crew reported a working fire with flames and smoke showing from a two-story vacant home and initiated an attack.

With the confirmation of a working fire, Quint 7 was dispatched to the scene as a Rapid Intervention Crew and Car 43 as a safety officer.

Firefighters battled the fire for an hour before the blaze was placed under control.

The fire was fought during high temperatures and humidity, which brought Engines 2 & 9 and Quint 8 to the incident to provide crew rotations.

The fire, which was incendiary in nature, reportedly started in a kitchen storage area under a stairway to the second floor. Damage was estimated at $90,000.

No injuries were reported.
