On January 24th, 2003, the Bridgeport Fire Department responded to the city's West Side for a report of fire on the second floor of an occupied house.
First in companies found heavy fire blowing out of the windows on the 2nd floor A-side of a 2 and a half wood frame structure.
The first due engine had problems establishing water because of a frozen hydrant due to the below freezing temps on this early Friday morning.
The second due engine covered the exposure while the 3rd due engine started an aggressive interior attack.
The rescue found both primary and secondary searches negative.
Heavy winds on this day also hampered operations causing the fire to run the length of the attic.
The evacuation signal was sounded and crews had to pull out for a defensive attack.
No firefighters or civilians were reported injured in the fire, and the cause of the fire was not reported as well.
