Suspicious Fire Damages Saratoga, Calif. Home

  On Wednesday, May 12,  at 3:43 a.m., units of the Santa Clara County Fire Department were dispatched to reports of fire in a one-story ranch style home at 20330 Kirkmont Drive in Saratoga, Calif/Battalion Chief Brad Darbro reported significant fire showing from the front of the structure, leading to a request for a second-alarm to assist with fire attack and manpower. During the early stages of the fire the decision was made to initiate a defensive attack due to the volume of smoke and fire in the structure.

Battalion Chief Brad Darbro reported significant fire showing from the front of the structure, leading to a request for a second-alarm to assist with fire attack and manpower.

During the early stages of the fire the decision was made to initiate a defensive attack due to the volume of smoke and fire in the structure.

Firefighters were able to knock the bulk of the fire using multiple attack lines positioned around the exterior of the home.

There were no reports of injuries.

The origin is considered suspicious, and investigators are working to make a final determination as to the cause.
