Shortly before 2 pm on December 18, 2002, the Camden NJ Fire Department were dispatched to the Ferry Station Apartments in the South Camden section of the city.

This is a large two story apartment complex. The first arriving units found heavy fire showing from the windows of four apartment units. A second alarm was quickly sounded, followed by a third Alarm.

All occupants were safely evacuated.

Ladder Companies immediately went to the roof to make large trench cuts to cut off the fire as other members were advancing hose lines into the exposure units. Two master streams were placed in service knocking down the bulk of the fire in the four fully involved units.

The quick work of the truck companies, plus an interior attack stopped the spread of fire to the other units.

All Camden companies were utilized along with Camden EMS Units during the fire.

Deputy Chief of Operations Tom Quinn placed the fire under control in about 45 minutes.

Two fire fighters were injured, none seriously during the fire.

Thirty five people were left after the three alarm blaze.
