Beacon, New York Firefighters Battle House Fire

Upon arrival of 33-9, heavy fire was visible throughout a 3-story occupied multiple dwelling.

On Monday, December 9, 2002, at 12:25pm, the City of Beacon Fire Department and Beacon Volunteer Ambulance Corp. were dispatched to a structure fire at 548 South Ave in the area of Newlins Mills Road.

Upon arrival of 33-9, heavy fire was visible throughout a 3-story 20x50 occupied multiple dwelling.

A 2nd alarm was transmitted bringing Glenham to the scene and Village of Fishkill and Chelsea for covers.

About 40 firefighters battled the blaze which was knocked down in about 1 hour.

3 firefighters suffered minor injuries and were treated and released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
