Fire caused considerable damage to a house in north Chattanooga last night. The Chattanooga Fire Department received the alarm at 7:29 p.m. and responded to 416 Tremont Street with Engines 1, 2, 12, Ladder 1 and Squad 1.
Battalion Chief Robert Dozier said the house was fully engulfed in flames when the first engine companies arrived on the scene. Chattanooga firefighters worked quickly to get the fire under control and protect another house endangered by the flames.
Five people lived in the house, including four adults and one child. All got out of the house without injury, but most of their belongings in the house were destroyed. Damages were estimated at $30,000. They were renting the house, but did not have renter
