Monroe FF's Battle Garage Fire

Sunday Dec. 27 @ 20:20 the Monroe Fire Department was dispatched to the 900 block of Monroe Turnpike for the reported structure fire, Bringing Engines 203,201  Quint 200 (Monroe), Engine 302,Rescue 320 (Stevenson), RIT Engine 102 and Truck 100 (Stepney) While enroute dispatch notified responding units that PD was reporting a working fire in a detached garage.

Asst. Chief 253 (J.Krize) arrived within 3 minutes of the dispatch, took up command and reported a fully involved 60' x 40'  3 bay detached garage with an exposure 40' off the A side.  Chief 251 (Lattanzi) arrived just behind 253 and took up operations assignment.

Engine 203 which was put into service only 2 weeks prior, arrived first due and was instructed to lay a 5" supply line from the end of the driveway approx. 600' and to pull master streams.  Engine 302 arrived second due, dropped their crew and picked up the split lay to the hydrant.

Initial attack crews (FF Holt, FF Brown, FF C.Krize) pulled 250' 2 1/2 and had the fire knocked within 20 minutes, secondary crews from Engine 302 and Engine 201 pulled multiple 1 3/4 lines for mop up and  extensive overhaul.

At 20:56 command put the incident under control and returned RIT, due to the icy conditions CT State DOT was notified.
