On Tuesday, November 23, 2004, shortly after 11 AM, dispatch received a call for a barn fire at 65 Braveboat Harbor Road in the Kittery Point District.
Upon arrival of Engine Company 5, firefighters found a 2-1/2 story wood barn, approximately 30 by 60 feet, fully involved. A second alarm was struck, bringing in Mutual Aid Tankers from York and Eliot.
Upon arrival of Chief Dave O'Brien, a third alarm was struck. This brought Mutual Aid from York Beach, Portsmouth, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and New Castle for coverage.
The barn housed a 35-foot fiberglass sailboat valued at $300,000. Within minutes of the first arrival, the barn partially collapsed.
Cause of the fire is under investigation.
